TO his adoring fans, DJ and music producer Black Coffee is a great example of a man who oozes confidence.

But a Facebook post written by the DJ revealed how he has been fighting his insecurities.

The deejay, whose arm was damaged in a car accident in the 90s, said showing his hand in public was a big step for him.

He wrote: “In Berlin I went to see artist Yoh Nagao in his studio and I decided to put on an arm brace.

“When I was young I used to wear one after the car accident.

“It was hard because children can be mean, so I decided to stop wearing it, especially in public.

“This is such a great achievement for me and I’m becoming more confident to do it often.

“I didn’t post this picture because people had their own versions of my story for years.

“I did this for myself.

“We all have things that we don’t like about ourselves and we often put ourselves down before other people do.

“I’m personally working towards breaking those chains and I believe I’m going to unlock even more opportunities for myself.

“Don’t let anything pull you down.”

The DJ said he had always been a tough person, but he took on other people’s problems and bottled them up, which only ate him up from inside.

“As a father I now try to teach my kids not to do the same.

“I’m learning to cry and reflect my own truth and all my faults.

“I’m trying to be better.”
