ARTHUR Mafokate is desperate for a Metro FM Award!

He has offered to give away a cow to a lucky voter among those who vote for his music stable.

Why the desperation and why a cow, of all things?

He said: “The only thing we need as people is food. You can give people money but that won’t empower them.

“So I want to give them something they can actually enjoy.”

Arthur’s record label, 999 Music, has been nominated for Best Compilation Album while one of his artists, Cici, has been nominated for Best R&B Single. The prize money is R100 000 in each category.

Kwaito star Arthur, who now demands to be referred to as a businessman, told Daily Sun the cow competition was one of many crazy ideas.

The desperation for a win, he said, comes from the fact that there has been a drought of four years at his stable.

“The album we released represents our comeback as a label.

“It’s a compilation featuring our greatest artists.

“Winning a Metro FM Award would mean the world to us, although we’ve already bagged two awards for the album.”

The stable has won awards in the SABC Radio Summer Campaign for their hit song Summa Ya Masumma featuring Arthur, Cici and Ishmael, as well as for Ko Morago by African Roots.
