GRAMMY award-winning group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, has put Ladysmith on the world map!

But when they “retire”, there may just be someone to keep the momentum going.

Cici (28) has entered the scene and is making waves.

“Cici”, also from Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal, was born Busisiwe Thwala and her song Runaway has been nominated for the Metro FM Awards.

Cici is nominated alongside Nathi of Nomvula fame in the R&B category, and with the support of Black Mambazo, she believes she’ll come out tops!

Cici told Sunday Sun: “Tears rolled down my face when I visited my family last weekend and hundreds of people flocked to my house and shopping malls.

“It really dawned on me what a legacy Black Mambazo has created for our small town of Ladysmith and I’m going to continue with it.”

She said: “If I win an award next week at the Metro FM Awards, I’ll dedicate it to Ladysmith Black Mambazo for paving the way for artists like me.”

Cici was discovered by “King of Kwaito”, Arthur Mafokate, who is now her manager.

Arthur has discovered superstars like Mandoza, Lira, Joe Nina and Chomee, among others.

He said: “We’ve seen Brenda Fassie and Lebo Mathosa, but I believe Cici also has something to offer that might get Mzansi on the international map like Black Mambazo.”

Cici has bagged two awards within five months of launching her career.

And industry experts and artists back her on social media.

Cici was discovered through the South African Arts & Development Association talent search.

Summa Yadi Summer, featuring Arthur and Ishmael, has turned into an anthem.
