WEST INK boss and Big Nuz member Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo this week found himself at the centre of a catfight.
This as gqom queen Babes Wodumo (real name Bongekile Simelane) and new kid on the block, Thandeka “TDK Macassette” Mkhwanazi, exchanged social media blows over him.
The war of words between the Durban-born artists was sparked by a partygoer who posted a video of TDK Macassette’s performance on Facebook.
In the footage, by the user with the handle of Nhlanhloh Msomi, the Yebo hitmaker is seen falling off a stage and her wig coming off.
Nhlanhloh then captions the video with a provocative message, which reads: “Angikaze ngimbone umuntu onebhadi njengalo, mengawa kungaphuma i-weave (I’ve never seen such an unlucky person. If she fell, her weave would also fall off).”
When other Facebook users asked who TDK Macassette was, Nhlanhloh said she was Mampintsha’s ex.
This prompted a response from Babes Wodumo, rumoured to be Mampintsha’s lover.
Wrote Babes: “Wafeba, ngeke aphinde amthole. Akahlale phansi usis (She had her chance, but ruined it by being unfaithful. She’ll never get him back).”
Not one to take things lying down, TDK threw her own venom into the fray: “ This nana is such a fan of me, honestly. What in the world are you talking about, Babes Wodumo? I mean you are 23, but you’re halfway to finishing all the men in this industry, love.
“You need prayers personally and, besides, your 40-year-old man has sugar. I wonder how you deal with his belly and what’s under it, knowingits function is inefficient . . .
“ Do yourself a favour, go back home, focus on yourself, your brand and school and build your own empire.
“I still love you even though you hate me.”
When the SunTeam contacted Babes for comment, Mampintsha answered her phone, saying he’d comment on her behalf.
Declared Mampintsha: “I wasn’t aware of what was going on. This is very hurtful and isn’t something that can be published. This is damaging to my brand.
“As for Babes, please just say she refused to comment, as this isn’t good for both of us and the company.”
TDK asked to be sent questions via email, but she failed to respond to them.
