PASTOR Mdletshe has left SABC1’s telenovela Uzalo.

This is apparently because he was gatvol of acting with second-rate actors! “I’m hurt to leave the show but I couldn’t deal with amateur actors who know nothing about acting,” said legendary actor Bheki Mkhwane, who plays the part of pastor.

“Unprofessional behaviour by some members of the cast made him so unhappy that he felt surrounded by a lot of amateurs who pretended to know everything,” said a source.

Apparently Bheki, who is known for being a very committed, disciplined actor, has no patience with those who are not. According to sources, Bheki was also not happy with his pay.

“Bheki went there knowing that he would be paid less than what he expected but he still loved working on Uzalo. When eThekwini Municipality injected R5 million to Uzalo, he asked for a salary increase. It didn’t happen and he left,” said the source.

Sbu Mpungose, publicist for Uzalo, said: “As a telenovela, Uzalo was commissioned to be on air for a year – ending February 2016. To date, the telenovela has not been commissioned for season two.

“Uzalo has wrapped shooting and the contracts of all the actors have naturally ended, including that of Bheki.

“He negotiated his remuneration accordingly, and as such we cannot make comments about his salary.”
