Twist in Senzo case!

accreditation

WITH only three days into the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, the defence lawyer has been able to bring some new information to light.

The former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper was killed in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni in 2014. Five men have since been bust after they were accused of being behind the murder.

But Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Sandiso Ntanzi, Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Sifisokuhle Ntuli denied all charges and pleaded not guilty.

On Tuesday, 26 April, Advocate Malesela Teffo, who is representing accused one to four, told the North Gauteng High Court that his clients have never been to or heard of the place where the shooting occurred. He said they also denied seeing the gun that was allegedly used to kill Meyiwa. He told the court that the silver grey walking stick found on the floor was not taken for DNA testing, and that a hat found on the floor actually belonged to a woman.

When cross examining the first state witness, Sergeant Thabo Mosia, Teffo questioned the time which the murder was reported, asking Mosia if it didn’t raise concern that the forensic team arrived over four hours after the shooting.

Meanwhile, Mosia told the court that he believes the crime scene was not tempered with. The cross examination is expected to continue on Thursday, 28 April.
