Luxury isn’t only for the head-to-toe drip.

Adding a splash of colour, patterns and designs to your living space can give your home that elevated and chic feel.

With such an abundance of colours, textiles and fabrics that come out of the vast array of Mzansi’s décor industries, interior design novices and those hoping to spruce up their spaces are in for a treat

Some of our local designers have taken the plunge into bold and avant-garde homeware ranges that will add just the right amount of glamour to your abode.

South Africa’s acclaimed designers who have carved their own noticeable path in fashion have broken the glass ceiling and ventured into providing the country with their recognisable designs for the home.

While living in luxury comes with its price, accenting your home with the MaXhosa Africa’s printed throw pillows or exploring the limitless boundaries of minimalism through the eyes of local creative Lulama Wolf’s home décor range with H&M Home will give your home the class it deserves.

Take a look at some of the country’s most recognisable designers and get inspired to revamp your living spaces with some of their luxury items:

1. Ikhaya by Imprint ZA

Fans of futuristic luxury fashion brand Imprint ZA can also treat their homes to the stylistic and Nguni-inspired designs from the famed label.

Titled Ikhaya by Imprint, the new homeware range in collaboration with South African flooring and home décor company Airloom came to fruition on 29 October 2023 and houses a range of rugs, lampshades and ottomans for your heart’s desire embroidered with the artsy black and white shapes that are so fondly recognised.

Speaking to TRUELOVE, founder and designer Mzukisi Mbane says, “We just launched our home range so people can buy our rugs, our couches. Like literally, Imprint can live in your home.”

2. Thabo Makhetha

If you’re looking for a fresh take on your tiles, award-winning designer Thabo Makhetha-Kwinana’s latest collaboration with tile company CTM is just the collection to cast your eye on.

Thabo’s unique and creative flair inspired by her Basotho heritage lends a unique and glamorous hand to an interior design opportunity that will add nuance and distinction to your home.

“This partnership with CTM is only the start of our journey, a journey that will see South Africans able to transform their living spaces into works of art,” Thabo shared following the launch of the collection.

3. Lulama Wolf

Visual artist Lulama Wolf’s expressive artwork has been reimagined for the home.

After joining forces with global fashion brand H&M’s home collection in March 2023, the creative launched a home range that included a rug, jacquard blanket, tufted cushion covers and hand-painted plates for the company’s For the Love of Art collaborative campaign.

Neutral colours and ethereal shapes encapsulate Lulama’s collection and will make for an easy transition into luxury.

4. Rich Mnisi

Rich Mnisi's gender-fluid and genre-bending eclectic designs have had the country in a chokehold, and that extends beyond fashion.

In a first-ever home collaboration with famed gallery Southern Guild titled Nyoka, the Rich Mnisi brand has extended to collectable furniture. Included in the collection are seating, chandelier, rugs and more.

Bringing abstract yet minimal designs that can only be Rich Mnisi, there is an air of quiet luxury that exudes from the label’s fashion designs.

Previously explaining to us how he counts all of his brand partnerships as achievements, Rich says, “Everything the brand does goes towards the bigger picture - every partnership is selected with the utmost consideration, hence the emphasis on all of them being our biggest achievements."
