Netflix, Showmax and Mzansi Magic all have shows and movies premiering this month.

From the South African romance sequel How To Ruin Love: The Proposal to the couples show The Ultimatum: South Africa  - Netflix, Showmax and Mzansi Magic will premiere a variety of shows and movies one binge watch this May. 

If you are looking for a guide on what to watch, here are new shows and movies to look out for in May.

How To Ruin Love: The Proposal 

Trying to catch a cheating boyfriend goes wrong as a suspicious Zoleka tails her boyfriend to Cape Town to bust him in the act. Her investigative tactics do not succeed and she ends up ruining her surprise proposal.  

The series will star familiar faces such as Mapaseka Koetle and Sandile Mahlangu and it will premiere on the 31 May 2024.

The Ultimatum: South Africa

Drama is the order of the day as six South African couples participate in The Ultimatum: South Africa. Throughout the series, the couples get to swap partners as they try to figure out whether the partner they came with is truly their soulmate or they might have to betray them and leave with someone else.

This love hexagon begins on 10 May 2024.

Empini 

Actress Nambitha Ben-Mazwi takes the lead role on the new Showmax action series, Empini. In this series, she plays the role of Ndoni Themba who forms part of a group of VIP bodyguards. She acts alongside Siyabonga Thwala.

Surrounded by men, violence and aggression, Nambitha's character still prospers as a VIP bodyguard, having her leading the pack and showing dominance in this male-dominated environment. 

Empini is set to premiere on 23 May 2024.


Mark Twain Award: Kevin Hart 

After several years of being a successful comedian, plus winning many awards, Kevin Hart receives another accolade. The Mark Twain Award for American Humour. 

This comedy special is not just about handing Kevin an award. He will also get a taste of his own medicine when he gets roasted throughout the special. 

You can catch the premiere of this show on 11 May 2024.

Real Housewives of Durban Season 4 Reunion

The gorgeous and glamorous housewives of Durban reunite and, as per usual, the housewives are always prepared to share the latest gossip and drama that happens in their daily lives. In this reunion, the ladies go through topics of infidelity, control, alcoholism and even witchcraft accusations. 

Coming to you on Showmax, the reunion will air in two parts. The first part will be on 15 May 2024 and the second part will be on 22 May 2024. 

Themba: My Inked Life Season two

Former Big Brother Mzansi contestant Themba Broly gives people some insight into his life once again in his reality show, Themba: My Inked Life that will be launching it’s second season on 9 May 2024. 

The reality show will be airing on Mzansi Magic and audiences can expect to see the ups and downs of Themba’s life and his attempt to make amends with his ex-girlfriend and former Big Brother Mzansi winner Mpho Wabadimo.

Bridgeton: Season 3 Part One 

Catch scenes from the regency era as Bridgeton Season 3 part one premieres on 16 May 2024. We cant wait to witness a blooming love story...no spoilers.

Mince Jou Hare

What better way to spend your Mother’s Day then to have your own Showmax series. Shimmy Isaacs has had the honour to dedicate her upcoming sitcom, Mince Jou Hare, to her mother.

We see the story of Shimmy’s mom, Frieda, unfold as she quits her job in a factory and moves to a fictional town in the Western Cape to start her own salon.
