What started as an exercise to keep friends motivated and busy blew up to become the Thesis Lifestyle that you know today. Together with a few friends, Wandile started it in 2005 after first testing the market through the second-hand recycled clothing. Spotting an opportunity through a vacant space in 2007, the Thesis concept store was born. Through the years, the brand has grown to encompass events and social impact components.
We speak to the pulse of the community (Soweto) in a way that most brands don’t. We seek to pay homage while inspiring the next generation of people to go out and define themselves.
Fifteen years in the business is a highlight on its own because streetwear and street culture in South Africa are still young. To be a part of that for all these years is a constant highlight. Another one is being able to develop different entities that keep the business afloat – from Thesis Social Jam Sessions and Thesis Run Cru to Cycling, Gin + Wax and Define Yourself Sessions – the constant innovation is awesome.
