SA Fashion Week (SAFW) returns bringing an infusion of lavish fashion, glamorous beauty, drinks and shoulder-rubbing galore.The esteemed event is set to take place from 18 to 20 April 2024 and will make a return in October.

With many international partnerships such as Japanese motor manufacturer Isuzu and the New York crafted alcohol beverage Cruz Vodka, SAFW is a brand that has maintained a respectable reputation.

Joining the SAFW entourage this year is the "number one cosmetics company in the world" - L'Oréal.

The partnership with the beauty brand will take the form of a runway show, "With this partnership, we will have the opportunity to showcase our beauty products [and] our expertise, under the theme Walk Your Worth," says Namate Moyo who is the Sub-Saharan Africa marketing manager at L'Oréal.

"This brings sophistication [and] women empowerment to the local runway."

A designer showcasing at the extravaganza  Biji La Maison who's proud to take part in the first-ever experience. "In partnership with Biji La Maison, we will showcase our very own runway show for the first time in South Africa on Friday 19 April," Namate adds.

The runway will be debuted by "top celebrities and influencers who are friends of the brand," Namate shares.

At the SAFW briefing, Maps Maponyane - who was the MC - hinted that the likes of Bonang Matheba, Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni, and Thembi Seete will be strutting their stuff at the Walk Your Worth runway, with many more familiar faces to look out for. Maps highlighted that the models were carefully selected and he went on to joke about how he had also raised his hand to be part of the show but he got declined because of the intense requirement.

"This extraordinary collaboration will amplify the message of women's strength and celebrate beauty in all its forms," the President of L'Oréal's Sub-Saharan Africa division, Burkhard Pieroth, says. Emphasising the great impact their partnership with SAFW will have in the fashion industry.

Namate says, "[The runway will] bring to life the fusion of local creative talent and global beauty."
