Actress and TV host, Thembisa Mdoda-Nxumalo is set to join Mzansi Magic’s popular soapie, The Queen in April.
According to a statement issued by the channel, Mdoda-Nxumalo will be playing the role of Vuyiswa Maake, temporarily replacing Zandile Msutwana who has played the character since the show’s inception.

“It is with both great sadness and excitement that we make this announcement," the statement read.
"Zandile Msutwana, who plays Vuyiswa Maake, sustained an injury while on set. Unfortunately, Msutwana cannot carry out her duties and has been booked off to recover well at home,".
Mzansi Magic also said that they had to urgently find someone to play the role while Msutwana was away because the production is currently wrapping up its 5th season.
“From the 19thApril 2021, Thembisa Mdoda-Nxumalo will be gracing our screens as the new Vuyiswa Maake. We have no doubt that with Thembisa’s immense talent and skills, along with the support and guidance she has received from Msutwana, the character of Vuyiswa Maake will continue to steal the hearts of the viewers,” the statement read.
Thembisa is no stranger to our screens, she has appeared on a number of productions such as Unmarried, Isibaya and Baby Mamas.

Fans of the soapie had different reactions to the news. Others questioned why Msutwana’s character couldn’t be temporarily written out as she recovered and others wished Mdoda-Nxumalo luck for the role.
