Michelle Mvundla, who goes by Mphowabadimo, is set on protecting her peace.

From offering spiritual teachings and sharing her life with her more than 66 000 YouTube channel subscribers, to coming out of a public relationship with Themba ‘Thembabroly’ Mabaso while expecting a child with him, Mphowabadimo has been making headlines.

But she isn’t letting anything slow her down and hopes to find peace to protect her and child’s wellbeing.

Speaking to TRUELOVE, Mpho talks to us about her journey from finding out she was pregnant to beginning a new chapter in life for herself and her growing family.

“Finding out I was pregnant was a beautiful surprise. Although there was a lot of pressure at the time, this baby came at a perfect time where I myself was self-destructing [and] going through a very tough state of depression. I was hopeless and ready to give up, but this pregnancy was the biggest light in the tunnel,” she says.

The Big Brother Mzansi Season 3 winner has had many opinions directed her way since revealing her split with Themba and explains her perspective on the dissolution of her relationship.

“Relationships come and go and some work while others won't and it’s perfectly normal. Although we were in the process of getting married, I made the decision to leave the relationship before it was official edlozini (with the ancestors) because it wasn’t going to work, there was just too much noise and toxicity, so I wanted peace for myself and had to be selfish and make a decision that was going to give me just that.”

Mpho goes on to tell us about the difficulties of going through a breakup in the public eye.

She explains that “people feel entitled to say or assume whatever without knowing the truth and by the time the breakup news came out, I had already left the relationship mentally, so it was a back and forth that I had to deal with and hence I came out to announce that it has ended after numerous attempts on making it work but the energy wasn’t reciprocated”.

The 27-year-old sangoma has always been upfront about how much her spirituality means to her and using her spiritual journey to guide her in life.

Speaking on dating as a sangoma, Mpho says, “[It’s] challenging but I chose to go against that and give love another try. Even though my guides disputed the relationship many times, I was persistent in proving to them that I too deserve a companion but in the end their word was final and as usual I’m not surprised by this outcome because I’m the gift from the Gods.”

Mpho considers herself an independent woman and has made peace with concluding this chapter of her story.

“A relationship [is] not the foundation to who I am, it was just a public chapter to my story but I’m just grateful for the baby that came from the union because couples fight all the time. It’s just that our problems were public and too much was going on with too [many] interferences. However, he is the father of my child but currently we [are] not on good terms and haven’t spoken in a while but hopefully one day in the future we’ll find a common ground.”

Through dealing with moving out of her shared apartment with Themba to be closer to her family as the end of her pregnancy draws near, she explains in a vlog, being around her family has been her greatest support system and she appreciates her supporters a lot.

“To my friends and supporters, I appreciate them so much for always having my back. Just like a phoenix I always rise, and I’ll never stop believing in love,” she concludes.
