A recording of an altercation that allegedly turned physical between Bujy and Boity has been leaked.

A recording of the alleged assault incident of actress and musician Boity Thulo, by TV and radio personality, Bujy Bikwa, has been leaked.

The assault allegedly took place at a hotel in Midrand, north of Joburg, last week at a tech event they both attended.

In the recording, which is believed to have been recorded by one of Bujy’s friends, a voice believed to be that of Bujy’s can be heard talking to friends in the presence of Boity about ancestors, saying: “You know what the worst part is? Boity is bragging about ancestors with so much aggressiveness, but she is weak”.

What seemingly escalates the exchange of words between the two stars is when it is insinuated that Bujy is not even worthy to be at that event. A voice, similar to that of Boity is heard retaliating with the words: “I’m a bigger person than him...” The person then continues, “Nobody knows who he is. He’s like a nobody. Anytime he shows up anywhere, everyone wonders why is this guy even around.”

The voice similar to Bujy’s continues to say “Ja, no, it’s okay, I can receive that. I can receive that, it’s fine,” in reply to the voice similar to Boity’s.

The argument escalates with screams about a “wet wig” and “fake ancestors”, with a fight that then ensues. A voice similar to that of Bujy is heard allegedly swearing at Boity’s ancestors and parents saying, “It’s okay when you know ancestors are fake … look at you. O tsofetse ma**pa my love. O bua maka. Ms**nu ka nyoko.”

Friends are heard trying to intervene. Again and again another voice similar to that of Bujy is heard saying: “I can pour more. Nobody says such bullsh**t. Everyone is going to know who I am after I fu**k Boity up". A glass bottle being broken is then heard…

While the pandemonium ensues, ladies' voices can be heard screaming while trying to stop the fight, with one of  them saying: “No, don’t do it.” In the background, another voice, which sounds male, can be heard saying, “Bujy no, no, no…” and the ladies’ voices continue asking for calm and for the situation to be diffused. One of them can be heard saying, “It’s a cut.”

Bujy is alleged to have hurled a bottle of liquor at Boity’s face, causing the star to have bruises before she was taken to hospital for medical attention.

Boity recently released a statement, in which she confirmed the incident, saying she had opened a case “against the culprit and would watch how the case unfolds with keen interest”.

The former Metro FM presenter was apprehended last week and yesterday he appeared at the Midrand Magistrates Court where he was released on a R2 000 bail. He was also warned not to interfere with witnesses. He faces charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

In a statement of his own which was posted on his Instagram account on Friday, Bujy denied being an abuser and said that he was verbally and physically abused on the day of the incident.

"I have been through the most rough, emotional and difficult time the past few days regarding allegations against me of GBV," he began.

"...I have been accused of GBV which in no way sits well with me as I have been labelled as an abuser which I am not and it saddens me to see how this has spiraled out with people believing and siding with one side of a story. I was verbally abused and told that my surname has no relation to who I am and because of that, that is why my career is not going anywhere in terms of growth...," he said before alleging that he was kicked and punched while being told that he should take it because he's a man.

Bujy also revealed that he opened a counter case of common assault against the "culprit".

Dear all

I have been through the most rough, emotional and difficult time the past few days regarding allegations against me of GBV.

In no way do I condone such behaviour and actions that occurred on the night however I feel victimized as I was not given the opportunity to relay my side of the story. After the incident took place, I tried to reach out to the said complainant in many ways available to me but with no success. I then spoke to my management team and advised them about what had transpired on Tuesday evening and what I had tried to achieve in resolving the matter before the necessity of taking further actions.

I have been accused of GBV which in no way sits well with me as I have been labelled as an abuser which I am not and it saddens me to see how this has spiraled out with people believing and siding with one side of a story.

I was verbally abused and told that my surname has no relation to who I am and because of that, that is why my career is not going anywhere in terms of growth, in-fact, "what is it that I do in the media industry because I'm actually nothing!". Furthermore. during a verbal confrontation, I was then physically assaulted being kicked and punched while being told that ("I'm a man, I'm a man') I must take it. The pain and suffering of having to let a woman abuse me verbally and physically while trying to contain myself and holding her hands to stop was not enough, until witnesses managed to defuse the situation. That did not make matters subtle, as it was continued that I was insulted.

With a glass in my hand, I unintentionally threw it out of frustration. Without any intention to to cause physical harm, I do however acknowledge that matters could have been handled in a different way and I sincerely apologise for how it ended.

With that being said, I also opened a counter case of common assault against the culprit for physically attacking me and after being in pain from the injuries I sustained for 7 days, being held in police custody, I have received medical attention and have filed my medical records towards my counter case.

I do trust and believe that justice will e fairly served and ask that speculations be just that, as the matter is being handled by law enforcements and further investigations are still underway.

During this difficult time, I request space and respect on the matter and will reserve further comment on this platform.
