- Sol Phenduka announces he will be joining Kaya 959, alongside Dineo Ranaka.
- They will be replacing Thomas and Skhumba who are currently the hosts of the station's breakfast slot.
- The co-host of Podcast and Chill with Mac G says he will not be leaving the podcast.
Podcaster Sol Phenduka took to his Twitter account to announce that he was returning to radio, after being suspended from 5FM in 2015. The DJ will be co-hosting Kaya FM’s breakfast show, alongside media personality Dineo Ranaka.
Sol and Dineo will take over from Thomas and Skhumba who are the current hosts of Kaya’s breakfast show, Thomas and Skhumba in The Morning. This was also confirmed by the radio station in an official statement posted on their website. It reads:
“Kaya 959 is proud to welcome Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka to the station’s growing family. The move is in line with the continuous repositioning the station has embarked on since 2021.
Dineo is acknowledged for her mastery of the craft of radio.
“Her radio savvy, dynamic personality and life experience coupled with Sol’s sharp wit and broad knowledge are just the combination Kaya 959 needs to make a mark with the Code-Switcher who is on a journey to advance themselves” says Kaya FM MD Sibongile Mtyali.

The former Big Brother Mzansi contestant’s last radio gig was a show on 5FM, from which he was suspended for making offensive comments. He is currently one of the co-hosts of the infamous Podcast and Chill podcast with Mac G and maintains he will not be leaving, following concerns from the fans of the podcast.
“I will still be doing the podcast. The two don’t clash at all; one is for a completely different audience on the internet and the other one is terrestrial radio. I’ll remain doing it. As many may know, I have been on radio before and have lots of experience on the medium and I believe there is still enough freedom for my personality to shine. I’ll be myself.”, he tells DRUM.
Dineo will be leaving Metro FM, after four years at the station, to join Kaya with her last show airing on 17 June 2022.
The station will be announcing further Kaya 959 line-up additions on the 1 July 2022.
