According to Sowetan, media personality Kayise Ngqula and her husband, Farai Sibanda were involved in a car accident on Sunday, 16 June. The crash reportedly happened in the early hours of the morning in Sandton. Farai was in ICU for a week before succumbing to his injuries, on Saturday, 22 June.

Kayise’s mon, Fikiswa Gatya confirmed the passing with the publication, adding that her daughter is slowly recovering. “She is stable. She is recovering from some fractures on her body. One can say she’s out of danger now,” Fikiswa said.

The presenter’s mother further explained that her daughter is devastated, adding that her union with Farai was fairly new. The pair tied the knot in August in a traditional ceremony, and welcomed their first child, Zuko, eight months ago.

On Farai’s funeral arrangements, Gatya said they were not yet finalised.

“The family is still in discussion. He is of Zimbabwean origin, so the family has been informed and some of them are already here. They arrived as soon as they were informed of the accident,” she told the publication.
