Speakup 07 Oct 2019 My job is not for sissies Allow me to tell you a little about “six to six”, the life of a security guard. Waking up at 3am and leaving the house at 4am is what a guard does for an hourly rate of R14. He faces danger on his way to work and at work. Some people call him names and make fun of him. Some clients or visitors shout at him when he tries to do his job. That’s the story of my life. Every day, when I go to work, I wonder if I’ll come back home alive. I make R14 an hour and some thug out there is always planning to attack and rob me. Every time I go out I know my child might not see me again. Being a security guard is not easy. But some people out there continue to undermine us. Molefi Mokhasi Olievenhoutbosch, Centurion
