Why does Mzansi welcome the Carling Knockout Cup? Find out, by listening in the podcast player below!

In July 2022, the PSL announced that the Carling Cup, historically played between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, will be scrapped as a whole, with the Carling Knockout Cup taking its place. This tournament will see all 16 teams taking part, with the fans of Mzansi having the final say, by voting for their 4 favourite teams, to partake in the matches. These changes have been welcomed by football fans around the entire country, as it allows teams, other than the Soweto giants, to have an opportunity to play for silverware.

This cup has replaced the Telkom Knockout Cup, after close to 3 decades of enjoyment. The Carling Knockout Cup will follow the same format of the TKO, where all 16 clubs will be drawn in a straight knockout tournament until a winner is determined.

On the latest episode of the Fan Reaction Show, the fans express their excitement for the competition and share their thoughts on the format.
