Bafana Bafana will be eyeing a spot in the COSAFA Cup final when they take on Zambia in the semi-final this evening.
COSAFA Cup
Teams: South Africa v Zambia
Date: 14 July 2023
Venue: King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium
Time: 18h00
The South Africans booked their spot in the final four after rallying from behind to defeat Eswatini on Tuesday, which sealed top spot in Group A.
Bafana are in the final for the first time since 2021 when they won the title under coach Morena Ramoreboli.
The hosts will come up against a Zambian side who thrashed the Seychelles 4-2 on Wednesday night to seal their ticket to the final four.
However, the Zambians were only qualified due to being the best second-place finisher with six points to their name, as Malawi topped Group B with a perfect record.
These two nations could not be separated when they met in this competition in 2021, while Chipolopolo secured a 2-1 win over Bafana in an international friendly a year earlier at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
Here's how they line up:
South Africa: Mzimela, Sikhakhane, Allan, Mohamme, Lakay, Mthethwa, Cele, Mogaila, Rayners, Mabasa, Kapinga
Subs: Barr, Dithejane, Makume, Mogaila, Human, Tlolane, Kobedi, Sebetlela, May, Mini, Letsoalo, Palace, Gumede
