The Siya crew reported that Chiefs were keen on the Sirius IK midfielder, though they had not made an approach to the Swedish giants at the time.
The crew subsequently reported that despite not making a formal offer, Chiefs remain keen on the 23-year-old, whose impressive stats in 2023 has sent waves throughout Europe.
Now, reliable sources have informed the Siya crew that Scottish giants Rangers have expressed an interest in Matthews but they are not the only club keen on his services!
Dutch giants AZ Alkmaar have also thrown their name in the hat to land the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder.
Matthews, 23, had an impressive season in IK Sirius this year and contributed nine goals and 10 assists in 30 Allsvenskan games in the season gone by.
He does have a long-term contract with Sirius IK, who signed him in August 2022.
Indications are that it has now become a three-horse race for the player’s signature though it remains to be seen whether Chiefs, Rangers or Alkmaar manage to land the player.
