Despite recently gaining promotion back to the DStv Premiership, Polokwane City seem to be losing many of their players when one might expect them to build on their strengths.

One of the latest players they could lose is Malawi international striker Khuda Muyaba who might join Royal AM.

A Siya source has indicated that the former Silver Strikers striker has already started training with the KwaZulu-Natal side.

The source added that he is not sure whether the 29-year-old striker has already signed with Royal AM.

"He was at home in Malawi though he was not part of the national team that played against Ethiopia," said the Siya source.

"The thing that I am not quite sure about is whether he has signed already or not. You know he still has a contract with Polokwane City until June 2024.

"But what I can tell you is that he has been training with Royal AM since they returned for pre-season training last week Monday.

"The technical team is impressed with what they have seen from him so far, but as I have said, I am not quite sure of the situation but he still has a contract with Polokwane City," the source said.

Having enjoyed two good seasons with Polokwane City after joining them in January 2020, Muyaba was falling out of the first team during this past season. His lack of game time has cost him a place in the Patrick Mabedi coached Malawi national team.

Muyaba has accumulated 24 caps, scoring four goals and was part of the squad in last year's Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.

Meanwhile, the source added that Swazi international midfielder Mxolisi Mkhontfo could be heading to KwaZulu-Natal instead of Tshwane after SuperSport United had initially shown reported interest in the player.

The sources told the Siya crew that Royal AM are in the lead to sign the Green Mamba and Sihlangu Semnikati midfielder.

"At first it was SuperSport United but now Royal AM look more set to sign him. They had their representatives watch the Swaziland game against Togo in Nelspruit," said the Siya source.

"They are convinced he is a player they would like to bring on board. I am not sure whether it's for trials first or they will sign him straight up as they have seen him in action already," said the source.

In addition, another source added that Royal AM could also monitor the progress of the midfielder during the COSAFA Cup which will be played in Durban next month.

"He is expected to travel to Durban before the COSAFA Cup and the team has promised that they will monitor his performance during the COSAFA Cup as that will give them the chance to watch him more in competitive games, but they are serious about him," the source added.

When asked about the interest from Royal AM, Green Mamba CEO Mandla Sibiya confirmed that the Shauwn "MaMkhize" Mkhize owned club wants the player.

"Yes, there is interest from Royal AM and we wish the player all the best as he goes there. We know he will be representing all of us and we believe in him because he is a good player," Sibiya observed.

His agent Dingane Maduma of Corner-Flag Sports Agency also confirmed the player's presence at Royal AM.

"Yes, he is there. He has gone there for a three-day assessment programme. I believe in the player and I know he won't disappoint," Maduma concluded.
