Orlando Pirates could look to revive their interest in tough-tackling defender Ismael Toure from Stellenbosch FC in their planning for next season, the Siya crew has been informed.
Like many of his teammates at Stellenbosch, Toure has been influential in the team’s impressive season which has seen them being one of the exciting sides in the league in the 2023/24 campaign.

The towering Ivorian has been a vital cog in the heart of the defence for coach Steve Barker’s side which has now extended their unbeaten run to 22 matches following their 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United on Wednesday.
Stellies have conceded only 11 goals during their unbeaten run and kept 12 clean sheets, with Toure featuring in 26 matches this season across all competitions and all in the starting line-up.
The 26-year-old was also key in the Winelands’ outfit winning the Carling Knockout trophy earlier in the season where he made three appearances and was the scorer of the crucial goal in the final that took the team to the penalty shootout which they successfully won.
Prior to Toure’s move to Stellenbosch at the end of last season, there had been reported interest from Pirates in his services.
“Pirates had been monitoring the player since his days at Marumo Gallants. Remember there was a stage when Marumo were doing well in CAF (Confederation Cup) and that didn’t go unnoticed. But Stellenbosch were quick to sign him after Marumo got relegated,” said the source.

“But there is still interest from Pirates in the player. His progress at Stellenbosch hasn’t gone unnoticed and nobody can deny that he has improved in the last few months to be one of the top defenders in the league. But the player is focused on the good job he is doing for Stellenbosch and is aiming to make further progress with the team, as there is also a semi-final of the Nedbank Cup coming for them next month against (Mamelodi) Sundowns,” the source concluded.
