It will come as a surprise to the football fraternity, but Orlando Pirates have extended the contract of defender Bongani Sam.

The Siya crew has been informed that the Buccaneers still see a future for the 26-year-old at the club despite sending him on loan in the previous two seasons having been considered surplus to requirements.

Sam joined the Soweto giants from the now-defunct Bloemfontein Celtic in July 2019 along with midfielder Kabelo Dlamini and striker Tshegofatso Mabasa at the time Micho Sredojevic was the head coach.
