There could be a twist in the deal for Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows regarding the future of Bongani Sam, the Siya crew has been reliably informed.
Sam is spending the 2023/24 season with the Dube Birds on loan from the Buccaneers and so far he has done well with his performances on the field.

The 26-year-old initially joined Swallows in January 2023 after his loan deal with Maritzburg United was cut short.
It was recently reported by the Siya crew that the defender has had his contract with the Soweto giants extended by two more years until June 2025 at least.
Sam has made 13 starts for Swallows in their league campaign so far this season and has been one of the standout performers in coach Steve Komphela’s side.
Due to the financial standoff between players and management at Swallows, sources have indicated that Sam could be one of the stars to leave the club in this transfer window.
Swallows were recently punished by the league for failure to honour their two fixtures in December against Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows respectively after players decided to down tools in protest of non-payment of their salaries.
According to sources, Bucs may cancel the loan agreement for Sam with AmaZulu who announced the signing of Sifiso Ngobeni from Mamelodi Sundowns on a six-month loan deal this week, understood to be monitoring the situation closely.

“Bongani Sam could be the next player to leave Swallows as a result of the club’s financial situation and an unhappy camp,” said the source.
“The player’s situation is concerning to his parent club Pirates and there is already interest in him from elsewhere. AmaZulu are keen on the player,” the source added.
