He has had to wait four months for it to happen; however, Pirates’ young defender Thabiso Sesane has finally been registered by the club for the 2023/24 season.
It was though that the 23-year-old was biding his time with the Pirates first team with whom he has been training since being recalled from a loan spell with All Stars in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. He was not assigned a jersey number.
Another loan move seemed likely for ‘Pepe’ as he is known, with the player receiving much-needed game time, something that is not guaranteed in a star-studded Pirates outfit.
However, in a move that came as somewhat of a surprise, Sesane was named in the Pirates’ matchday squad against AmaZulu and was included on the substitute’s bench, although he did not feature against Usuthu.
It appears that Pirates have had a change of heart with regards to the defender who appears to have worked his way into the club’s plans for the season given their heavy schedule.
