Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has revealed why he has no fears of losing his best players to European suitors following some impressive AFCON displays from them while representing Bafana Bafana.

That South Africa managed to secure a bronze medal in Ivory Coast is down to a number of factors. One of which is the inclusion of Sundowns players who made up the core of Hugo Broos’ side.
The likes of Ronwen Williams, Teboho Mokoena, Mothobi Mvala, Aubrey Modiba, Grant Kekana, Themba Zwane, Khuliso Mudau and Thapelo Maseko were amongst the tournament’s standout performers.
As reported by the Siya crew, a number of players have already attracted interest from abroad, as clubs from Europe look to pounce on Bafana’s best performers.
For Mokwena however, this is something that is not of concern for the near future as the transfer window has slammed shut with players solely focused on success with Sundowns.
“The good thing about this is that for the next six months, all of us, myself included, Tebza, Mshishi, Ronza, Gaston Sirino, Bongani Zungu, Sipho Mbule everyone is committed to make sure that we’re gonna be here until the end of the season, that’s for sure,” he told Radio2000.
“That means that everybody’s got to be invested and give 150% while they’re still at the club. Fortunately that is our immediate focus and that we have our players coming back, the window is closed so there cant be any movements in and out anymore.
“So as the ones that are at the club, we’ve got a responsibility to do everything we can to make sure the club achieves its objectives and that’s the fortunate part about the situation of the very good performances at AFCON,” he concluded.
