The ongoing transfer speculation around Cape Town City's new found star forward Khanyisa Mayo has made chairman John Comitis uneasy.
Mayo, whose performances in the DStv Premiership for City this season has earned him call-ups to Bafana Bafana, has been been heavily linked with a transfer to Mamelodi Sundowns in the January transfer window.
Sundowns seemed to have a striker crisis in the closing matches before the FIFA World Cup break after the uncanny injury of leading striker Peter Shalulile, which required surgery and were short of options upfront.
Although academy graduate Cassius Mailula stepped up to plug the gaping hole and scored crucial goals, the Brazilians would not want to be caught napping again and are believed to have made enquiries about the availability of Mayo.

However, Citizens chairman John Comitis, as reported in edition 1305 of Soccer Laduma, has poured cold water to intensifying speculation linking Mayo, the son of Kaizer Chiefs legend Patrick, to the Brazilians.
Comitis, who last did business with the Tshwane giants in the previous transfer window by agreeing to sell Terrence Mashego, says he wants to consolidate the team first before they can consider going that route again.
"We want to create stability before we can even think of selling," said Comitis.
"We want to make sure there is stability and the team is back to it's previous best, like it was the case last year."
The Siya crew has been led to believe that Sundowns have not given up on their pursuit of Mayo in the upcoming window and it remains interesting to see whether City's head will be turned, if the Brazilians dangle a carrot in front of them for the services of the 24-year old.
The Mother City outfit seem to be prepared for the possible departure of Mayo after they recently announcing the signing of Colombian forward Juan Camilo Zapata from Venezuelan side Club Deportivo Hermanos Colmenarez.

Zapata was announced as the club's record signing on a four-year contract.
The 28-year old's arrival has added more fuel to speculation linking Mayo with a potential transfer, after City also signed Venezuelan forward Darwin Gonzalez in the January transfer window, at the same time they sold Bafana striker Fagrie Lakay to Egyptian outfit Pyramids for a fee believed to around $1 million (which was equivalent to around R15,4 million at the time), according to Siya sources.
