Kaizer Chiefs had lost their last game before the FIFA international break when they went down 1-0 to Cape Town City at FNB Stadium. That was soon after being knocked out of the MTN8 semi-finals by rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

Former Amakhosi captain and defender Patrick Mabedi believes the break came at the right time for the Glamour Boys to regroup and recharge their batteries.
Talking to Soccer Laduma in an exclusive interview, the Malawian-born stated that at times you need to rest to start afresh and that's what Chiefs needed at this point.
"For me I can say the break was needed for the team. We have been blowing hot and cold in our games even when we play well you find that we don't score goals to win games," Mabedi told Soccer Laduma.
"The break was a good thing for the technical team to look at the other combinations as they have a number of new players in the team. So far they have been trying different combinations in all departments and this FIFA break will give them that opportunity to look at different combinations in a different way away from the official game.
"I believe in the technical team and you can see that they are doing the right things together. It's just a matter of time things will fall in place and the team will start getting the desired results.
"So, this break was for that. To work with the players while looking at how you can approach different games with different players. I hope and believe the team will come back in good spirits and different from what we saw before the break," Mabedi concluded.
