The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has often faced criticism for a perceived drought in goal-scoring. However, recent performances suggest a resurgence in the art of finding the back of the net in South Africa, with players stepping up to deliver memorable new feats.

This remarkable achievement prompts Soccer Laduma to delve into the archives and spotlight other players who have left an indelible mark on the PSL with their sharp-shooting abilities. Here is a list of players who have scored four or more goals in South Africa's top flight:

James Chamanga – Moroka Swallows vs. Platinum Stars – 09 December 2007

During a period of rebuilding under the guidance of Zimbabwean coach Ian Gorowa, Moroka Swallows faced an ambitious Rustenburg-based Platinum Stars side. The Zambian striker, Chamanga, was relentless, scoring five goals in the first half to lead the Dube Birds to a resounding 6-2 victory. This performance remains one of the most prolific single-match goal tallies in PSL history.

Katlego Mashego – SuperSport United vs. Moroka Swallows – 11 May 2008

Coming off the bench in the second half with United trailing 1-0, 'Mahoota' Mashego quickly turned the tide, scoring four goals in quick succession against goalkeeper Greg Etafia, to eventually win the game 4-2. His remarkable performance not only secured all three points for Matsatsantsa but also played a crucial role in clinching their maiden league title that year.

Bernard Parker - Kaizer Chiefs vs. AmaZulu – 11 August 2012

In a season where Kaizer Chiefs were determined to reclaim their former glory, Bernard Parker set the perfect tone in the season opener. His four-goal blitz against AmaZulu in Durban led to a 6-0 triumph for the Amakhosi. This emphatic victory laid the foundation for a successful campaign, culminating in a league and cup double.

Thobani Mncwango – Polokwane City vs. SuperSport United – 16 January 2016

With Polokwane City aiming to solidify their status in the top flight, the appointment of veteran Brazilian coach Julio Cesar Leal was seen as a step towards achieving that goal. Mncwango welcomed the new coach with a stunning double-brace, leading his team to a 4-1 victory over SuperSport United and showcasing his goal-scoring prowess.

Gabadinho Mhango – Golden Arrows vs. Mpumalanga Black Aces – 27 April 2016

After transferring from Bloemfontein Celtic to the then Bidvest Wits, Mhango was loaned to Golden Arrows towards the end of the 2015/16 season. His tenure at Arrows was marked by a free-scoring spree, highlighted by a four-goal performance in a 4-2 victory against Mpumalanga Black Aces. Mhango's goals, split between both halves, underscored his lethal finishing ability.

Players like Rayners, Chamanga, and Parker, among others, have etched their names into PSL lore, reminding fans and critics alike of the thrilling spectacle that football can be when strikers are on form.
