Two giants of European football are set to square off tonight in the UEFA Champions League when Bayern Munich take on Barcelona. Here are the two starting XIs!
Teams: Bayern vs Barca
Time: 21:00
Venue: Allianz Arena
On Tuesday night, the Bavarians will take on the Catalan giants for the second successive season in the group stage. It will also be the 12th time they have met in the tournament's history.
With both teams undefeated in all competitions so far this season, Barca will be looking for a massive win to make their intentions in Europe's premier tournament known after the Bundesliga side won both group ties last year.
There is also a sub-plot brewing regarding Robert Lewandowski. The Pole is a legend at the Allianz Arena, having scored 344 goals in his 375 appearances for Die Roten before making the switch in July to Catalonia, where he has continued to showcase his goalscoring prowess with nine goals in just six matches.
Three of those strikes came in the Blaugrana's opening match of the 2022/23 Champions League campaign against Viktoria Plzen last Wednesday.
Muller Reveals Mane's Lewandowski Joke
Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann will be without Kingsley Coman and Bouna Sarr for the clash against the Spanish outfit due to injury.
Sergi Roberto, meanwhile, missed Barca's game against Cadiz on the weekend, but has been included in the LaLiga side's squad that has travelled to Germany.
Xavi faces a potential selection dilemma, though, as he has a fully-fit squad to pick his starting XI from. What is almost certain, however, is that Lewandowski will lead the line against his former club as a Barcelona player for the first time.
Here is how the teams will start the match:
Bayern: Neuer, Pavard, Upamecano, Hernandez, Davies, Kimmich, Sabitzer, Muller, Musiala, Sane, Mane
Barca: Ter Stegen, Kounde, Araujo, Christensen, Alonso, Busquets, Gavi, Pedri, Raphinha, Dembele, Lewandowski
