A chief at one of Neymar’s former club hopes that the record-breaking Brazilian will one day return.

The skillful attacker has enjoyed an illustrious career since bursting on the scene as the beautiful game's newest wonderkid in 2009. His time with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain saw him accumulate a plethora of silverware, both individually and with his teammates.

Before reaching superstar status with his exploits in Europe, the Mogi das Cruzes native had already begun to garner the world’s attention with his performances at Brazilian outfit Santos.

He became a teenage sensation with his performances at Alvinegro, as he managed to score 72 goals and provide 35 assists in his 140 appearances for the club, while also ending a 48-year wait for the club to win the Copa Libertadores.

He left the Vila Belmiro-based club in 2014, but is perhaps one of its greatest players and current Santos president Marcelo Texeiria hopes that one day Brazil’s all-time top goalscorer will once again don their famous white strip.

"He has a relationship of appreciation, respect and gratitude with us. I think that path is inevitable," hesaid, as per Mundo Deportivo.

However, he did acknowledge that it was a wish more than anything when he added: "For now I see a void in his intention to return to Brazil."
