With Didier Deschamps’ contract with the France national team set to expire shortly after the 2022 FIFA World Cup, reports suggest that the French Football Federation already has their next head coach lined up.

Having been out of the job for a little over a year, it seems Zinedine Zidane is set for a spectacular return to football. According to Libertad Digital, the former Real Madrid boss will replace Deschamps as the Les Bleus head coach after the World Cup in Qatar.
The Frenchman left the Santiago Bernabeu for a second time last year, doing so in May 2021 after a trophy-less campaign with Los Merengues. Since then, he has been out of a job despite being linked to numerous positions.
Recently, Zidane's former Juventus and France teammate Thierry Henry opined that the 1998 Ballon d'Or winner would perhaps wait for a vacancy in the French national team and it seems as though the former Arsenal man's hunch was right, with reports claiming he has already reached an agreement to take over from Deschamps.
Deschamps became France's manager a little over eight years ago when Laurent Blanc resigned from the post after the 2012 UEFA European Championship. His French side were eliminated in the quarter-finals after losing 2-0 to eventual tournament winners Spain.

Since then, Deschamps has led the giants of international football to a second-place finish in the UEFA Euro 2016 and the FIFA World Cup title in 2018. Zidane now looks set to be the man to replace one of France's most decorated tacticians in recent decades.
The former Real midfielder has an impressive resume, winning three successive UEFA Champions League titles as Los Blancos' manager. He also won the FIFA World Cup (1998) and the UEFA Euro (2000) as a player for France.
