It was not a happy return to the Allianz Arena for Robert Lewandowski on Tuesday night as his Barcelona side lost 2-0 to Bayern Munich. The Polish hitman has since broken his silence regarding the defeat to his former club.
Bayern Boss Reacts To Mane Concerns
For the first time since switching Munich for Barcelona in July, the 34-year-old returned to the home of the team with whom he won every club title available this week.
It was, however, an unpleasant return to Germany as goals from Lucas Hernandez and Leroy Sane in the second half ensured that the Bavarians came away with all three points.
Despite the striker and his teammates posing a serious threat during the first half, Barca were unable to find the back of the net, which ultimately led to the Bundesliga champions still being in with a shout to win the game going into half-time with the score 0-0.
Hernandez and Sane subsequently made the Blaugrana pay for their missed opportunities as Julian Nagelsmann's men maintained their unbeaten start to the season while the LaLiga giants suffered their first loss of the campaign.
Lewandowski has since reacted to the Blaugrana's defeat to his ex-employers, with the Poland international taking to his official Instagram account to post a picture of himself applauding the travelling support, along with a caption that read: "It was a tough evening. Now it's time to focus on the future."
The Warsaw native has been in fine form since making the move to Spain, scoring nine goals in his opening seven fixtures for Barca, but was unable to hit double figures against his former team. He will look to rectify that in Barcelona's next match against Elche in LaLiga on the weekend.
