Newly-promoted Nottingham Forest have officially sacked the men responsible for signing 22 players in the recent transfer window after the club's poor start to the Premier League season.

Report: No Top Clubs Want Ronaldo

Although the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City made high-profile acquisitions in the window heading into the current campaign, a lot of attention was paid to the business Forest conducted.

The Tricky Trees spent in excess of £150 million (R2.9 billion) on 22 new arrivals for this season, a spree that made them the previous window's fourth-biggest spenders in Europe.

That, however, has not prevented Steve Cooper's men from experiencing a challenging start to life in the English top flight, with Forest having claimed just a single victory from their opening nine matches in the EPL.

According to The Telegraph, the club has now taken action by firing George Syrianos and Andy Scott, the people who were in charge of Forest's transfer recruitment, following a review of the business they did.

The audit was reportedly led by owner Evangelos Marinakis and new sporting director Filippo Giraldi, who was appointed by the club just a week ago, while Cooper was surprisingly handed a new contract recently.

Jesse Lingard, Emmanuel Dennis, Taiwo Awoniyi and Morgan Gibbs-White were among those brought in, while several players in the squad that won promotion from the English Championship were told to leave in pre-season.

Forest have scored just seven goals in their first nine league games of the campaign, and have conceded a staggering 22 times in what is the second-worst defensive record from any team in the Premier League so far.
