In doing so, the Egyptian Red Devils become the first team-ever to reach five consecutive CAF Champions League finals.

Al Ahly coach Marcel Koller was full of praise for the team and supporters after Friday's win.

“We expected Mazembe to be aggressive but we were prepared and the players fought for every ball,” Koller said in the press conference.

“We had enough quality to create many opportunities and today we took them and scored three goals. I am really happy with our qualification.

“The fans were incredible today. I have worked in several countries and have never seen anything like that before.

“Their presence is key, and today they were the 12th man and they pushed us a lot. I hope they will always be there for us."
