The Pre-match kits at this year's World Cup added to well-designed jerseys exhibited at the Qatari showpiece.

Here's a look at five of the best warm-up jerseys...

What's the story?

Qatar produced one of the most entertaining World Cups ever, from the never-ending goal mouth action, to the upsets and unexpected comebacks, this year's showpiece has been one for the books.

Another cool aspect of this tournament was the kit designs, more specifically, the designs of the various Pre-match kits.

Most of the best designs in this top five came from one brand, let's take a closer look!

Number 5: France

Les Bleus came narrowly close to defending their World Cup crown after losing in penalties to a Lionel Messi-led Argentina side.

Before the blockbuster final kicked off, the French headed out for their warm-up at the Lusail Stadium, wearing their dazzling warm-up jersey for what could be the last time.

The predominantly white jersey features abstract splashes of blue and red, along with subtle accents of grey. Arguably Nike's best ever warm-up kit design for the 2018 champions.

The stand-out warm-up kit will be one of the many things this young French team will be remembered for in Qatar.

Number 4: Netherlands

Another Nike design comes in at number 4, with the famous US sportswear brand putting together a unique pre-match kit for the Oranje.

Louis Van Gaal's men were knocked out by the eventual winners, Argentina, in the Quarter-finals and for every one of their five matches at the World Cup, they rocked a awesome black and grey monochrome top.

Nike ditched the Dutch's traditional orange, white and blue colours for something a little more gothic. The black base and the grey details on the jersey makes it look like an x-ray image.

A cool, and unforgettable warm-up kit for Ons-oranje, which will raise the standards of how their warm-up outfits are designed by Nike in the future.

Number 3: Spain

An adidas design slots in at number 3, with the 2010 champions Spain. After a shock exit at the hands of the tournament's surprise package, Morocco, it's to say that La Furia Roja had a tournament to forget.

A positive aspect of their campaign (be it a very small positive) was their eye-catching warm-up jerseys. According to NSS Sports, the pre-match kit design was dedicated to the iconic adidas Jabulani ball.

The patterns on the Spain warm-up top resembles the ones seen on the 2010 FIFA World Cup ball, the same tournament where Spain conquered the world.

Unfortunately the Jabulani-inspired design wasn't enough to see the Spaniards progress further than the Round of 16, and it resulted in Luis Enrique vacating the coaching gig.

Number 2: Australia

The Socceroos proved to be a bit of a surprise package at the World Cup, they bowed out in the Round of 16 to the newly crowned World Champions, and also made quite the impression with their stunning pre-match jerseys.

Nike went bold for this Australian design as they combined a green base with yellow, orange and black through a paint brush graphic print on the front, sleeves and back.

This kit is somewhat similar to Australia's 2019 home shirt for the Women's World Cup, which they'll be hosting next year alongside Trans-Tasman neighbours, New Zealand.

Number 1: Brazil

Nike brought the eye-catching flair with this design, which is appropriate to how Brazil played at this year's World Cup. The blue and green print looks like the scratches of a wild cat.

The jersey's saturated blue with the green graphic "wild cat" print across it is both avant-garde and fun, which is exactly what a warm-up strip is supposed to be.

Although they failed to get further than the Quarter-finals for the second World Cup in a row, this warm-up kit is one for the ages, a beautiful effort from Nike for one of their legacy teams.
