Check it out!

What's the story?

In a video that's circulating heavily on social media, SA Tourism acting CEO, Themba Khumalo appears to reveal a special away jersey sent to him by Manchester United.

With SA Tourism reportedly set to wrap up its sponsorship deal with Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United could also be entering the mix.

Let's take a closer look...

Manchester United x SA Tourism

After SA Tourism's plans to sponsor Tottenham Hotspur were abruptly revealed by the Daily Maverick, there's been plenty of talk surrounding the potential deal, with plenty of twists, shouty press conferences and backlash in the aftermath of the news.

It now seems that the 20-time English Premier League winners, Manchester United have entered the SA Tourism sponsorship chat.

The South African government's tourism agency has reportedly given preliminary approval to a sponsorship deal with Spurs and government officials are being consulted on whether it should be finalized, according to BusinessTech.

While those talks continue, it looks like the Red Devils have made their move, sending Themba Khumalo their white away jersey that reads, "VISIT SOUTH AFRICA" on the front, where the main jersey sponsor would be.

A seemingly excited Khumalo unboxes the jersey in a video where he states that United are sending him a proposal and that the video isn't staged:

It was reported by Sky Sports News last year that Man United are seeking a new front shirt sponsor after ending its deal with TeamViewer.

Although United and TeamViewer will continue their five-year relationship, the English giants could be set to take South Africa's tourism exposure to a new level.

SA Tourism's deal with Spurs could see the North London club receive R910 997 814.75 over a 36-month contract, as South Africa seeks to recover the losses that the tourism industry dealt with during the COVID-19 pandemic.

If the deal with Spurs goes through, SA Tourism will receive branding on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, matchday advertising, training camps in SA, along with free tickets and stadium hospitality.
