Makhanya's new life in Philly

The Durban-born defender is one of five South African players in the MLS, representing Philadelphia Union and seems to be getting accustomed to his new life in a big city.

On Makhanya's IG story yesterday, he showed his followers the sheer amount of groceries it takes to fill his fridge sustain him for at least a couple of weeks.

Apart from getting used to American food, Makhanya is embracing US streetwear style and seems to be enjoying what the city of Philly has to offer.

During an Instagram Q&A conducted by the 19-year-old back in August, he shared his thoughts on what he thinks about the East Coast city:

"The city is a mix of some bustling energy and laid back charm. Amazing food, nice architecture around, I'm loving it."

In the same Q&A, an anonymous asked Makhanya to bring home a Messi shirt, to which the youngster responded by saying:

"Respectfully, I didn't come here for Messi."

Makhanya is yet to make his MLS debut for Philly and has featured twice in the MLS Next Pro, a reserve league for the MLS itself.
