Let's take a closer look...

Rulani Mokwena takes Brazil

Mamelodi Sundowns as a club is heavily influenced by Brazilian football. From the colours to the style of play and of course being nicknamed the "Brazilians," it feels fitting for Rulani Mokwena to be going on an educational trip to Brazil.

Rulani has visited two clubs from the The Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, Botafogo F.R and Copa Libertadores champions Fluminense FC in Rio De Janeiro.

The Downs coach is a known admirer of Fluminense and current Brazil caretaker head coach Fernando Diniz and his style of play that's seen as the opposite of Pep Guardiola's tactics.

"Today, we visited the home of Relationism... the Diniz house. To find out more about the game model. The challenges, the work being done, and the talent being produced. Thank you for the hospitality," wrote Rulani on his Instagram story.

With Brazilian legend Marcelo as their skipper, the Flu fell short of Club World Cup glory after falling to Guardiola's supreme Manchester City but made club history by winning their first ever Copa Libertadores crown over Argentine giants Boca Juniors in November last year.

Rulani's trip to Botafogo, who are currently 5th on the Brasileiro Série A table, saw him engaging enthusiastically with the club's coaches and claims to have seen the next Neymar!

This trip to Brazil will yield positive results for Mokwena, not only tactically but also in understanding the football culture of one of the most celebrated football nations in the world.

It will also help Sundowns build relations and networks with top Brazilian clubs and potentially scout some more South American gems.
