Let's take a closer look at how Khune's kicks were revamped.
Khune's kicks
Itumeleng Khune wore a white pair of AF1s with a gum sole. They were customised with a metallic gold swish, giving the shoe a new lease of life.
These kicks hit the shelves 7 years ago and are minimal reiteration of the classic white-on-white AF1 sneakers.

Apart from adding a gum sole, Nike kept the original details on the sneakers.
The leather upper and the foam midsole are present on the kicks and the solid gum sole doesn't dilute the freshness of the popular Nike sneaker silhouette.

As mentioned by Complex, the addition of the gum sole makes it a little easier to keep these kicks clean, which is something all Nike sneakerheads can appreciate.
Khune also posted a picture of Cheslin Kolbe wearing the AF1 kicks in question, was the fleet-footed Springbok the inspiration behind Khune embracing the kicks? We can only speculate...
