What's the story?

Five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo was greeted by hundreds of fans in Iran who stormed into his team's bus and eventually the hotel.

The simply extraordinary scenes in Iran with hundreds of fans chasing the Al-Nassr bus to catch a glimpse of him, with CR7 also sharing a wholesome moment with a young fan.

A CR7 shutdown in Iran

A large group of football fans chased down the Al-Nassr team but and stormed into a hotel in Tehran on Monday, hoping for a glimpse Ronaldo after he arrived with his Saudi teammates ahead of their opening Asia Champions League group stage fixture.

Continues chants of "Ronaldo, Ronaldo," rang through as the fans pushed past police and security to filling the corridors and the spaces of the Espians Palace Hotel, where Al-Nassr have an entire floor booked.

Videos circulating online, originally posted by on Al-Nassr's Twitter/X account showed fans, young and old, running down the road in pursuit of Al-Nassr's bus, with the Ronaldo mania forcing the Saudi outfit to cancel training that day.

Ronaldo arrived on his first visit to Iran with the star-studded Al-Nassr side to take on Iranian outfit Persepolis tonight and was given a Persian rug as a present by the Iranian club's president.

The Ronaldo fanfare also saw a heartwarming moment between the former Real Madrid and Manchester United superstar and a young Iranian boy who looked as nervous as ever to meet him, wearing Ronaldo's Al-Nassr jersey.

The moment was warmly received on social media, as it went viral on the various social media platforms and it was revealed that the child initially missed his opportunity to meet Ronaldo because of security.
