Cheeseboy on Gift Leremi
The South African football fraternity was left shattered in 2007 when Gift Leremi tragically lost his life in a car accident in Johannesburg, aged 22.
Since then, many have been left wondering what highs Leremi would've been able to reach after being touted as one of the finest football talents that's been produced in Mzansi.
Cheeseboy Mokoena believes that Leremi would've reached the level of Benni McCarthy and told Mahlatse Mphahlele in an podcast interview that the ex-Pirates and Sundowns star was always confident of his abilities.
"I knew him from a very young age, we played in these local tournaments, Gift would score with either foot with the same power. He was physically strong, aggressive and had a never-say-die attitude," says Cheeseboy.
"He always believed in his ability, never doubted himself, he always saw himself as a Real Madrid player," added Cheeseboy who also recounted the time Leremi jokingly referred to himself as the King of soccer.
