accreditation

A YOUNG man was stabbed to death allegedly by a gang during a dispute at a pens down party in Boitekong outside Rustenburg, North West on Friday, 3 December.

Unathi Motseki’s gogo, Ruth Radilwana (61) said they were deeply saddened by the 20-year-old’s death.

She said Unathi was a good and well-behaved child.

“He asked to attend the pens down party with a friend and that was the last time we saw him.

“We got anxious when we heard someone was stabbed and went to the police station. The description we got matched him and I knew it was him,” she said.

His friend (21) said Unathi had accompanied him to the party.

“I saw the gang argue with my girlfriend. A fight broke out as I was trying to understand what was going on. I was attacked and Unathi tried to stop the fight.

“I stabbed one of the guys with a broken bottle and we ran away.

“But Unathi decided to go back to the party and that’s when he was attacked and stabbed to death.

“They said they were stabbing him because his friend stabbed one of them,” he said.

Police spokeswoman Aafje Botma said two suspects were arrested on Monday, 6 December and appeared in the Rustenburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 8 December.

The case was postponed to 14 December.
