Gameover, the new face on Uzalo, says being on one of Mzansi’s biggest productions is exciting.
Gameover, played by Emmanuel Mkhize, is Nkunzi’s thug.
Emmanuel, a theatre actor, said being on TV is a different experience – but he’s wanted to do it for a while now.
He didn’t think his character would develop. He started as an extra and later got a bigger part.
“When I auditioned to be on TV, I wanted to shape my craft,” he said.
“Seeing that I’d been in theatre from 1998, I wanted to try acting on TV. Fortunately, they saw potential in me.
“I’d been an extra in season 5. They liked me and decided to develop my character.
“I put my all in it and wanted to make it different, especially with the lingo.
“I did character research. I think that’s why I got this opportunity.”
He’s also a producer and writer, and one of his plays, The Blazer, has won two awards.
“In 2018, The Blazer won the Best Production Award at the South African Theatre Magazine Awards and at the South African National Community Theatre Association Awards. I focus a lot on children theatre.
“I’ve starred in theatre plays such as Badeye Shaka by Edmund Mhlongo, Sleepwalking Land by Roel Twinjstra and Calf with No Name by Clinton Marius.”

Emmanuel said he’d love to be in more local productions.
“I want to learn more about acting on TV,” he said.
“But in the near future I want to register my own agency because I’m also a writer and producer.
“I want to see my work going international. I also want to study acting as well.”
Gameover would like to one day have a PhD in performing arts.
