NOKWAYIYA Tsewu (32) said her heart would never heal.
The body of her 16-year-old daughter Zintle Tsewu was found dumped in an open field in Philippi, Cape Town last week.
“She was found in an open field like an animal. If she had died because she was sick, I’d accept that,” she said.
Zintle went out with friends on 12 March and she never went back home.
Her body was found the next day.
Nokwayiya said she needed to know from the police what happened to her daughter. “I want to know why she was murdered,” she said.
She said her daughter’s friend whom she went out with said they went to a party in Khayelitsha and when they came back, Zintle apparently went to her boyfriend’s place. But he said Zintle never arrived.
Western Cape police spokesman Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said: “Nyanga police attended to a crime scene in Mzinggizawe Street, Browns Farm on Sunday at about 8am, where the body of a 16-year-old girl was found. The victim was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel.
“The motive for the attack is unknown. The suspect or suspects are yet to be arrested. A postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Nyanga police are investigating a case of murder.”
