ADVOCATE Malesela Teffo, the lawyer of accuse one to four in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, told the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday, 26 April that his clients deny any charges against them.

He said they had made it clear that they had never been at that address or know of it.

He said that his clients had no knowledge of the ammunition that was used to kill Meyiwa.

During the cross examination of Sergeant Thabo Mosia, the state’s first witness, Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela repeatedly reminded Teffo to ask questions which are relevant.

Moments after Teffo started questioning Mosia before, the lead prosecutor in the murder trial, Advocate George Baloyi, asked the court to raise questions which are pertinent to the trial and “not to testify”.

This came after Teffo questioned Mosia’s experience in the police force and asked if he could call himself an expert in his field.

Teffo further went on to question Mosia on how he knew about the shooting and how long it took for him to arrive at the scene.

Mosia answered that he got a call from a certain Brigadier Ndlovu who told him that a soccer star was shot and he should go to the crime scene.

He said Ndlovu did not give him the address to the scene so he went to the Vosloorus Police Station to get it.

He said it took him about 45 minutes to get to the scene from his place because he had to pass by the cop shop to get the address.

Mosia also told the court that he was the first person from the forensic team to arrive.

He said he was told that the incident could have happened after 8pm, although he got the call four hours later.

He said according to Brigadier Ndlovu, accused number three shot Senzo.

He said according to the information he got, there were two males who went to the house, while one suspect entered the house, demanded money and cellphones. The other one was scouting the house outside but in the yard.

“Kelly Khumalo ran to bedroom 1 and the suspect tried to open the door, but he couldn’t. I think that’s where the scuffle happened,” said Mosia.

When asked why he though the people in the house opted to take Meyiwa to hospital instead of calling an ambulance or the police, Mosia answered: “The problem could’ve been that the people inside the house wanted to save Senzo before they could talk to us.”

Teffo further asked if he didn’t suspect any tampering with the crime scene.

“You don’t think anything sinister was happening during the time the crime happened and when you were called?” he asked.

Mosia said he though the people in the house were focused on taking the victim to hospital.
