As you grow older, one of the questions you might be asking yourself is, how much longer can I still have sex and enjoy it?
The answer to that question might not be as bad as you expected.
Findings from a recent survey have pretty much dispelled the common notion that old people don’t have sex and even when they do attempt to, it is not as fun as it is for the youngsters.
The younger generation seem to think old people cannot get it on, or that their sex lives, unlike fine wine, dissipate with age.
However, the survey shows that old people have sex well into their eighties and on occasion beyond.
A poll conducted by the University of Michigan Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation found that forty percent of people between the ages of 65 and 80 are sexually active
Almost three-quarters of people in this age range have a romantic partner and 54 percent of those with a partner are sexually active.
A report by Ann Brenoff for HuffPost also supports these findings, stating that old people’s sexual needs do not just disappear.
“You can have sex for as long as it feels good,” Brenoff writes, “A recent study of 6 201 people ages 50 to 90 published in the Archives of Sexual Behaviour found that up to 54 percent of men and 31 percent of women report having sex at least twice a month.
“As disturbing as you might find the thought of your parents or grandparents having sex, the truth is they’re still human beings with human-being urges.”
