We all long to have a companion and a lover in life, someone to hold and to talk to.
Relationships have many great benefits and are what many people want in life – to be in a good relationship.
However, there are cases when some people are not ready to be in a romantic relationship.
It is quite important to be self aware if you’re ready to be in a relationship before pursuing entering into one so you don’t hurt yourself and other people.
Always remember that the best relationship to value and work on is with yourself.
Here are some signs you’re not ready to be in a relationship:
1. You are not over your ex
Entering into a new relationship while you still have feelings for your previous partner is a sign that you’re not ready. You need to take time out to get over those feelings you still have for your ex
2. You’re not optimistic
If you’re always thinking about the bad and the negative things that could occur when it comes to dating and being in a relationship, then you’re not ready. Entering into a relationship with a harden heart will not do anyone good.
3. You’re too worried about what people think of you
If you suffer from “Abuntu Bazothini” when it comes to picking a partner, then maybe you’re not ready to be in a relationship. You should be living your life for yourself and do what makes you happy and what pleases you. Many people stay single because they are afraid of what their friends and family will think about their potential partner.
4. You’re impatient
Some people want things during courtship to happen super fast, just chill, take your time. If you have a “I must get married by 30” mindset, you’re not ready for a relationship because you will be entering into a relationship for all the wrong reasons.
5. You’re too picky
News flash, nobody is perfect. There are a lot of people who are too picky when it comes to choosing a partner, sometimes it is just best to accept some people as they are and work on things that you’re not pleased with, but looking and wanting Mr/Mrs Perfect will keep you single forever.
6. You don’t trust anyone
Some people have been badly hurt in their lives and in their previous relationships and then struggle to trust. Trust plays a big part in any relationship and if you have trust issues its best you work on them before entering into a relationship.
7. You hate being alone
There are some people who only enter relationships because they are afraid of being alone. Again this is something that you need to work on and be a lot more self aware with the reason why. If you’re somebody who is constantly dating because you hate being alone, you are not ready to be in a relationship.
8. You play the victim
In every situation and previous relationship you have played victim. Everything is always somebody else’s fault in your eyes. Learn to take responsibility and start being accountable for your own actions.
