Real Madrid booked their spot in the UEFA Champions League final with a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.

Madrid presented the same startling line-up from the first leg last week in Munich, while Matthijs De Ligt and Eric Dier were passed fit and introduced by the Bavarians.

The host showed the first opportunity from the start as Vinicius Junior arrowed a low pass by Dani Carvajal against the inside-post, with Rodrygo Goes denied by Manuel Neuer on the rebound.

A substitution was introduced by the Bundesliga giants before the half-hour mark as a knock forced Serge Gnabry to come off for Alphonso Davies on the left flank.

Madrid continued to have the momentum later towards halftime as Vinicius managed to keep a free-kick from Toni Kroos alive and drilled towards goal only forl Neuer to turn behind.

Vinicius provided more problems a minute in the resumption when he came short to go in to the byline and placed in a pull-back, but Dier intercepted and hoofed.

Neuer continued to produce saves ten minutes into the second period where he pulled across the near post to palm Rodrygo’s surging free-kick.

Bayern were under immense pressure as space opened up in the box for Vinicius to come in from out wide and draw another remarkable save off Neuer.

The Bavarians came out of their shell midway through the second half and took the lead when Davies came in on the left to cut inside of Antonio Rudiger and curled in the top corner.

Los Blancos appeared to have gone level a minute later as Nacho Fernandez turned in a low cross from a corner, but it was overturned after he committed a foul in the build-up.

Madrid did indeed go level with two minutes to go when substitute Joselu latched onto a spill from Neuer and tapped in from close-range.

Joselu turned up once more in added time as he timed his run to tap in Rudiger’s cross, with the effort initially disallowed for offside but overturned on review.

Los Blancos remained calm and bagged the victory to go into the final to face Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on June 1st with Bayern crestfallen.
