Spanish giants Real Madrid have now reportedly decided which manager they would like to see succeed Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to Fichajes, Los Blancos have identified their former midfield talisman Xabi Alonso as the man most capable of taking on the task of managing one of Europe's most elite sides after the former AC Milan boss.

Following Real's 3-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid on the weekend, Ancelotti has come under much criticism for some of his decisions that proved decisive in the loss to the club's bitter city rivals.
With the Italian manager continuing to be linked to the Brazil national team job, it now appears that Alonso could be appointed as Los Merengues' next manager soon as next year.
"I think we all know who will be the coach of Real Madrid next season. And it is neither Raul [Gonzalez], nor Ancelotti," journalist Matias Prats told Radio Marca.
"It is a coach who coaches in Germany and his name is Alonso. We all know that, right?
"I have no doubt that he is going to coach Madrid next year.
"And it is not a feeling, it is information. It is very clear to me."
After being appointed as Bayer Leverkusen's manager in October 2022, Alonso has made quite the impression on the Bundesliga.
The Spaniard took over a side that were in 17th position on the league table after winning only one of their opening eight matches, but by the end of that season, he had guided them to a to a sixth-place finish, and also masterminded a shock 2-1 victory over Bayern Munich in March.

In the latest campaign so far, Leverkusen find themselves in second place on the table, level on points with Bayern, after winning four of their first five 2023/24 Bundesliga fixtures.
