Ahead of Manchester United's next game on Thursday, club manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo's immediate fate following the player's exclusion from the side's previous fixture.

Ronaldo's well-documented fallout with Ten Hag now seems to have reached a conclusion, with the Dutch boss having revealed where the 37-year-old old stands following his disciplinary breach last week.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner was dropped from the first team after his manager promised to deal with the player's decision to storm off to the changing rooms while United were still in action against Tottenham Hotspur last Wednesday.

The striker was left out of the squad that faced Chelsea on the weekend as a result, and was barred from training with the first team squad.

Ronaldo later released a statement via his official Instagram account acknowledging his poor behaviour, saying: "I've always tried to set the example myself for the youngsters that grew in all the teams that I've represented. Unfortunately that's not always possible and sometimes the heat of the moment gets the best of us."

However, many noted that the player did not explicitly apologise to his coach nor his teammates for his actions.

A meeting was said to be held between the marksman and Ten Hag on Tuesday to discuss a way forward, and it was then revealed that the goal poacher had been allowed to return to first-team training.

The former Ajax Amsterdam mentor has now confirmed that the ex-Juventus star will return to the fold for United's UEFA Europa League clash against Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday.

"Yes, Cristiano [Ronaldo] will be in the squad tomorrow. Raphael Varane isn't," the tactician said during a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, per Manchester Evening News.

Ten Hag also went in some detail about the meeting he had with Ronaldo, although he refused to give much away about it, wanting to focus on United's next match instead.

"It's not difficult. But I think we said everything and we answered all the questions, he [Ronaldo] was out for one game and is back in the squad as usual," he added.

"You don't have to [ask more questions] because we will not answer anymore, so all the questions, I think, are everything we explained and we have to focus on the game tomorrow. We have an important game because we want to be number one in the group.
